Fast-growing Buffalo Games Inc. expands footprint, board games division
Buffalo Games Inc., the leading manufacturer of jigsaw puzzles in the United States, is expanding its footprint.
The Buffalo-headquartered company has acquired 111 James E. Casey Drive and plans to use a portion of the 67,000-square-foot building as a warehouse. The space is located across the street from 220 James E. Casey Drive, where Buffalo Games creates, designs and makes puzzles and board games.
Nagendra Raina, who was named president of Buffalo Games last year, said the purchase price and building renovations will total about $2 million.
The 30-year-old company – whose 2016 retail sales are projected to be approximately $65 million – is in growth mode, driven by an uptick in the board games division. Right now, sales of board games account for one-third of the company’s revenues, but that’s expected to increase next year.
“Next year it’s going to be half and half,” said Raina, referring to sales of jigsaw puzzles and board games. “We have a team in place with some really, really powerful talent. What we touch right now turns to gold, essentially.”
Founded in 1986, Buffalo Games sells its products at more than 3,000 retailers in the U.S. and Canada, including Walmart, Target and Toys R Us. It employs 70 people, but it is actively recruiting and expects headcount to increase by 10 percent in the next year.
