Attorney Spotlight: Horace Gioia
Who is Horace as a lawyer?
Horace is a partner at Rupp Baase. He practices in commercial real estate and commercial mortgage lending. Horace attended Hamilton College for undergrad and then University at Buffalo School of Law for law school. When Horace first became a lawyer he was practicing primarily in litigation but he quickly switched to commercial real estate and has been practicing in this area for 35 years now. He represents a lot of commercial mortgage lenders and borrowers.
Why did Horace become a lawyer?
Horace was told his whole life that he should be a lawyer because he was good at arguing. Horace didn’t want to stop with his undergrad because he wasn’t quite sure what he wanted to do, so he went to law school. At law school he realized that he liked it a lot more than he thought he would.
What is Horace’s most memorable case?
Real estate attorneys have transactions, not cases. Horace has had quite a few 50 million dollar transactions lately which are quite sizable for Western New York. He is also currently working on his first transaction in Manhattan.
Who is Horace outside of work?
Horace is the father of 4 adult children who he spends a lot of time with. He loves to travel frequently. He is an avid golfer. Horace loves going to sporting events and trying out the various great restaurants in downtown buffalo.
