Attorney Spotlight: Jacob Honan

Who is Jacob as an attorney?

Jacob is an associate in our business litigation practice group. Jacob is very dedicated to his clients. He prides himself on always being responsive. And he is always trying to get the best outcome for his client. Jacob also has a competitive spirit. Litigation is very competitive, there is usually a winner and a loser. Jacob likes to win. Litigation can be pretty emotional for the client and even sometimes the attorney. Jacob is very good at taking a step back and looking at the bigger picture and making sure the work he is doing today will continue to be good for the client months down the road in litigation.

Why did Jacob become a lawyer?

Jacob has always been a good reader and writer, he was an English major in college and knew he wanted a career that would allow him to continue reading and writing. This is when he became curious about a career in law. Then he was lucky enough in college to intern for a couple of summers at a law firm. There he learned what the day-to-day is like as a lawyer and what the culture is in a law firm. This experience made him confident that he would enjoy a career as a lawyer and that he could be very good at it.

What is Jacob’s most memorable case?

Jacob recently had a trial where it became apparent that the plaintiff and his wife were lying. This was brought to the judge’s attention and the case was thrown out. It is memorable for Jacob because of what they were saying but also because it showed that honesty is always the best policy and if you lie more than likely you’ll get caught.

Who is Jacob outside of work?

Jacob is part of a big family whom he enjoys spending a lot of time with. He is a Buffalo native and is a huge fan of the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres. Jacob enjoys getting out into the Buffalo community and going to all the great restaurants, bars, and parks. Jacob also enjoys hiking, concerts, and playing music.
