The life of a trial lawyer is often fast-paced, adrenaline-fueled, and hectic. To be an effective advocate, a lawyer must be able to maintain a calm demeanor while considering and choosing the best strategy and course of action.
Presence is a skill I’ve learned through yoga—and a tool that I use every day in my law practice. Being present helps me listen, reflect, and understand what each client needs, so I can provide the most appropriate, cost-effective, innovative solution. Being present also allows me to listen to witness testimony and argument and hear subtle nuances that can alter my cross examination or counter argument in the moment to become more persuasive.
I also take lessons from my budding pursuit of becoming a drummer, only recently commenced. I seek to be a leader in multiparty litigation, deciding the path and driving the litigation forward, just as a drummer leads his band. I also recognize the positive impact of improvisation in my music, mirroring the innovative solutions I seek at law for my clients.
In addition to representing clients in all aspects of civil litigation (including jury and bench trials, mediation, arbitration, and through appellate and motion practice before the Appellate Division and Court of Appeals of the State of New York), I enjoy speaking and writing about torts, insurance and compensation law, and automobile litigation.
