Environmental
Our Environmental Practice Group integrates legal proficiency, technical knowledge, and comprehensive services to adeptly navigate the intricate terrain of environmental law across New York State. We ensure that our clients benefit from cutting-edge solutions in this continually evolving field.
Our lead attorneys have a proven track record managing complex environmental issues, from industrial compliance to remediation challenges throughout upstate New York. The legal team serves our clients’ needs concerning environmental compliance, litigation, administrative law, as well as brownfield redevelopment. We regularly assist clients responding to claims arising under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (“CERCLA”), the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (“RCRA”), the Toxic Substances Control Act (“TSCA”) and petroleum-related matters governed by the New York Navigation Law. The team can provide guidance with regulatory compliance, risk management, remediation and restoration.
Our attorneys in the Albany office have significant experience advocating for the environmental and real property interests of our clients. This includes representing organizations and landowners concerned with environmental or real property impacts from industrial or development-related activities.
We also have extensive experience representing clients through the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act (“NEPA”) and the New York State Environmental Quality Review Act (“SEQRA”) through the review or permitting phase and, if necessary, litigation. Further to development-related matters, we assist clients with permitting, compliance and litigation arising out of wetland matters, including the Clean Water Act (“CWA”) and the New York State Pollution Discharge Elimination System (“SPDES”).
The practice group regularly handles transactional matters, analyzing environmental due diligence, as well as guiding clients through federal, state, and local reviews. Whether municipal applications, contracts or real estate, our Practice Group confidently handles both the environmental and contractual needs of our clients.
