Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant with 7+ years of relevant legal support experience to join our Environmental and Project Development & Land Use practices. The ideal candidate is a proactive, resourceful self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, anticipates the needs of attorneys, and requires minimal direction while managing both administrative and billable work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with land use and zoning matters, including preparing application materials, coordinating submissions, tracking deadlines, and compiling municipal hearing packets.
  • Support attorneys with project development and environmental due diligence, reviewing reports, compiling permitting documentation, and organizing transaction materials.
  • Assist with SEQR/NEPA processes, including assembling environmental impact documentation and coordinating exhibits and consultant materials.
  • Conduct fact-gathering, investigations, public record searches, zoning research, and agency file reviews.
  • Prepare letters of intent, exhibits, transactional binders, and project-related correspondence.
  • Provide litigation support for environmental and land use matters, including organizing case files, preparing motion and brief binders, and assisting with discovery.
  • Coordinate with municipalities, agencies, consultants, and project stakeholders to facilitate document exchange and project workflows.
  • May assist with commercial real estate matters related to development projects.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal, preferably in environmental, land use, real estate, municipal, or litigation practice areas.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Highly proactive, with strong initiative and the ability to anticipate needs before they arise.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and a commitment to high-quality work product.
  • Interest in environmental law, land use, regulatory compliance, or project development.
  • Ability to contribute to a collaborative and positive team environment.

Wage Information:

$26.00 – $32.00 per hour based on skillset and experience.
