Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Paralegal with 10+ years of experience to support our Environmental and Project Development & Land Use practices. This role blends substantive paralegal work with high-level case management. The ideal candidate will not only assist with research, documentation, and regulatory processes, but will also play a critical role in organizing and managing active matters—ensuring deadlines are met, cases remain on track, and the supervising attorney is fully supported. We are looking for a proactive professional who anticipates needs, takes ownership of case progress, and serves as a central point of coordination for projects and litigation matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with land use and zoning matters, including preparation of application materials and coordination of submissions.
  • Support SEQR/NEPA processes by assembling environmental review documentation and exhibits.
  • Conduct zoning research, public record searches, investigations, and agency file reviews.
  • Review reports and compile permitting documentation for project development and environmental due diligence.
  • Prepare letters of intent, exhibits, transactional binders, and project-related correspondence.
  • Provide litigation support, including discovery assistance and preparation of motion and brief binders.
  • Assist with commercial real estate matters related to development projects.
  • Maintain and organize case files for active matters.
  • Track deadlines, regulatory milestones, court dates, and hearing schedules.
  • Proactively communicate with the supervising attorney regarding upcoming deadlines and outstanding items.
  • Coordinate with municipalities, agencies, consultants, and clients to facilitate document exchange and workflow.
  • Anticipate next steps in matters and help drive cases forward.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience as a Paralegal, preferably in environmental, land use, real estate, municipal, regulatory, or litigation practice areas.
  • Strong research and document management skills.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple complex matters simultaneously.
  • Highly proactive with strong initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience preferred.

Compensation

$26.00 – $32.00 per hour, based on skillset and experience.
