During my swearing in ceremony for admission to the United States District Court for the Western District of New York, the judge recited a quote by John W. Davis which has stuck with me to this day and, to me, epitomizes our profession: “True, we [lawyers] build no bridges. We raise no towers. We construct no engines. We paint no pictures—unless as amateurs for our own principal amusement. There is little of all that we do which the eye of man can see. But we smooth out difficulties; we relieve stress; we correct mistakes; we take up other men’s burdens and by our efforts we make possible the peaceful life of men in a peaceful state.” To work as an attorney is to be an advocate, a problem-solver, an advisor, and a keeper of confidences. I take great pride in helping clients navigate challenging situations, in working collaboratively to find creative solutions and achieve objectives efficiently, and in providing dependability in the midst of uncertainty. No matter the case, I will always strive to achieve the best possible outcomes for our clients.
