Matt Miller helps employers stay ahead of the law — and out of court. As Practice Area Leader for both Labor & Employment and AI Law, Compliance & Emerging Technology at Rupp Pfalzgraf, he brings a proactive, business-minded approach to some of today's most consequential workplace and emerging technology challenges.

On the employment side, Matt's practice is built around the full lifecycle of the employer-employee relationship. He designs and delivers compliance programs, conducts internal investigations, guides clients through agency proceedings, and defends employers in state and federal court against claims involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour violations, and leave and accommodation issues. He has represented clients before the EEOC, the New York State Division of Human Rights, the NLRB, and OSHA, and is well-versed in navigating the procedural and substantive demands of employment litigation across multiple jurisdictions.

Matt's AI practice reflects where employment law and business risk are heading. Inside the firm, he has been a central figure in Rupp Pfalzgraf's own AI journey — serving on the firm's AI Task Force and playing a key role in evaluating, adopting, training on, and implementing AI tools across the practice. That hands-on experience isn't just organizational; it directly informs how he advises clients. Matt brings real-world perspective to the table when counseling organizations on responsible AI adoption — from governance frameworks and internal use policies to compliance with evolving federal and state requirements — with particular attention to how AI tools intersect with HR decision-making, data use, and workforce management. He helps clients move through the evaluation and implementation process thoughtfully, capturing the efficiency gains AI offers without creating the legal and reputational exposure that comes from moving too fast without the right guardrails.

Beyond those practice areas, Matt handles a range of business law and commercial litigation matters, including operating and shareholder agreements, commercial leasing, and complex contractual disputes. He also advises clients on the distinctive legal and ethical landscape facing the veterinary profession.
